Soul Gems
Just the mere thought of these items scare people, and yet, these gems are commonplace. However, only certain Soul Gems can steal actual human souls, trapping them within the gems until released or the gems are shattered causing releasure of the soul entrapped within. When a soul is trapped they are turned into a liquid state, all their gear, clothing, and adornment are turned into liquid, the color is dependant on the primary or most shown color. Most common is brown, gray, green, goldenrod, and black. In some rare cases there is white or pale blue.
When trapped within a soul gem, the world is a state of limbo, time does not pass within the soul gem, nor does the entrapped age or feel any effects of aging whatsoever. Within the soul gem is a diamond like world of swirling colors and sounds. Mostly memories of what occured up to the point of entrapment. These memories replay before the entrapped with no hope of ending, or turning away from seeing their memories replay before them endlessly. Most that are entrapped are driven mad upon releasure from the nightmares that occur after being released from a soul gem.
Thankfully, the only Soul Gems that cantrap a human being of any kind are known as Red Soul Gems, also called Black Soul Gems. these gems can easily hold any soul whatsoever. And are commonly found in deep vaults, muesuems.And banks as items of crystal artwork. Black Soul Gems cannot be grown and must be mined. Regular soul gems. in this case, Petty, Lesser, Common, Greater, Grand, and Legendary/Black.
When a soul is trapped it can then be used to enchant a weapon, or item, the most common enchantment is location spell potion, restoration potions, and lastly, sleep potions. Human souls trapped within Black Soul Gems cannot be used to enchant anything. They can however be shattered, thus setting the soul entrapped within free without memory of being trapped, or simply set free with their memories of being within the soul gem.
Petty, Lesser and common soul gems are unable to soul trap anything larger than a common shetlan pony or Great Dane, whichever is available at the time. Black Soul Gems can entrap anything with a soul. the only exception being feline in nature.
Red Soul Gems are most attracted to magical people. Hence why one was used on Elsa to keep her from finding our missing princess.
